This week on Thursday, May 2nd both the White Sox, and the Cubs made a change on there team. The Chicago Cubs reinstated infielder Addison Russel from restricted list and optioned him to Iowa. They also transferred pitcher Brandon Morrow to the 60-day injury list. Regarding the Chicago White Sox placed pitcher Carlos Rodon on the 10-day injury list. And they reinstated pitcher Lucas Giolito from the 10-day injury list.

This month regarding the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse top 5 standing has Penn State ranked #1 with a record of 12-1, Coming in at rank number 2 is Duke University with a record of 11-4, 3rd place is Virginia University with a record of 12-3. In 4th place is Yale with a record 11-2 , and lastly coming in 5th place is Penn University with a record of 9-3.

Regarding the MLB there has been a lot of noticeable injuries, such as Giancarlo Stanton’s bicep injury. On April 25th Stanton was placed on the injured list one day after going 0 for 2 with three walks and two strikeouts. There was no Specific play that he got injured, he since healed from that but then suffered a shoulder injury during rehab which will keep him in rehab for the further future.

The next player in the MLB that has been injured was Aaron Judge with a strained oblique. the injury has described as “significant” and oblique strains are always tough to predict anyway. So you can be expecting Aaron to be missing at least a couple of weeks.

The third significant injury that has happened is Christian Yelich with lower back discomfort. Yelich left Sunday’s (April 28) game with discomfort after his lower back stiffened up after trying to make a break for a steal Craig Counsell does not believe the stiffness in his back will not cause him to be put on the injured list, and as of right now he is going day to day.

And lastly Nathan Eovaldi went under elbow surgery, Nathan had a similar surgery last year but you can expect him to be out for six to eight weeks.

So to some it up those are some of the most noticeable injuries in the MLB at the moment, and how the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Standings are looking.

 

This week regarding The MLB, The Chicago Cubs placed catcher Victor Caratini on the 10-day IL. And they recalled catcher Taylor Davis from Iowa. And the Chicago White Sox recalled LHP Josh Osich from Charlotte (IL).

This week for the MLB there hasn’t been that much interesting of big trades going on but both Chicago teams made a transaction on Wednesday, April 3rd. The Chicago Cubs agreed to terms with INF David Bote on a fiver-year contract for 2020-2024. And the Chicago White Sox placed shortstop Tim Anderson on Paternity leave, and recalled RHP Jose Ruiz from Charlotte, Illinois.

This week for the MLB trades have been very boring and not exciting at all but the Kansas City Royals agreed to terms with C Martin Maldonado on a one-year contract. And placed C Salvador Perez on the 60-day injured list.  Lastly the Royals optioned RHPs Conner Greene and Josh Staumont to Omaha.

Regarding the NFL this month has been very hectic. Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle David Irving said on Thursday March 8, that he is quitting the NFL. Irving is 25 years old and is already wanting to quit because he got suspended. Irving announced that he is quitting on a Instagram live stream less than a week after the NFL suspended him for violating it’s substance-abuse policy for the third time. On live stream Irving stated “Basically, guys, I quit, I don’t want to talk about the suspension and all this other nonsense. I’m outta there, I’m not doing this crap no more.” Irving also was saying that his problem is with the league not the sport. During the live stream Irving was smoking marijuana and speaking about how he disagrees with the NFL’s policy on the substance.

Also on March 8,2019 The Detroit Lions have released a veteran guard T.J Lang on Friday with one year left on his contract. This happening ended a question that had been lingering throughout the off-season. The general manager of the Lions Bob Quinn said at the NFL scouting combine last week that the team was still deciding on what they wanted to do with the former Pro Bowler, which they signed him to a 3 year contract deal before the 2017 season. By releasing 31 year old T.J Lang, the Lions saved $8,843,750 in cap room and also avoided paying him a $750,000 roster bonus that they would’ve had to pay next week. Injuries lingered throughout Lang’s career with the Lions and, even towards the end of the season, Lang said he was not sure what his future was going to hold. Lang dealt with injuries throughout his two seasons in Detroit, include being limited to six games last season while dealing with a concussion and a neck injury among other ailments.

These are two big things that have happened recently in the month of March so far, and both of these big events happened on the same exact day.

 

On Thursday, March 7, 2019 The Colorado Rockies Signed C Tom Murphy, LHPs Kyle Freeland and Harrison Musgrave; INFs Josh Fuentes, Garrett Hampson, Ryan McMahon, and Pat Valaika; OFs Noel Cuevas, David Dahl, Yonathan Daza, Sam Hilliard, Raimel Tapia, and Mike Tauchman; Yency Almonte, Ryan Castellani, Carlos Estevez, Rayan Gonzalez, Jeff Hoffman, DJ Johnson, Justin Lawrence, German Marquez, Antonio Senzatela, and Jesus Tinoco to one-year contracts.

This week for the MLB there was a trade on Monday February 18,2019. They agreed to terms with LHP Tim Hill and RHPs Heath Fillmyer, Jakob Junis, Trevor Oaks, Glenn Sparkman and Josh Staumont on one-year contracts. That was one of the most recent transaction this week in the MLB.

This week for the NHL there has been a lot of trades. One of which was on Monday, February 11, 2019 the Pittsburgh Penguins acquire defenseman Blake Siebenaler from Columbus Blue Jackets for conditional 2019 seventh-round pick. The Blue Jackets trade Siebenaler to Penguins for 2019 conditional pick. That was one of the bigger trades this week for the NHL.

In the month of February there has been a lot of trades and transactions in the NBA. Such as the Knicks signing G John Jenkins to a ten day contract, and the Pacers signing G Wesley  Matthews. On February 9 transactions were made one of which was the Atlanta Hawks transferring G Jaylen Adams for Erie, the second transaction was the Detroit Pistons signing G Wayne Ellington, and waived G Henry Ellenson. And the final transaction for February 3, was the Knicks acquiring G Kevin Olekaibe from Westchester, they waived G Tyrius Walker. For the standings of the teams currently the Bucks are ranked first with a record of 42-14. Coming in second is the Raptors with a record of 42-16. 3rd is the Indiana Pacers with a record of 38-19. In 4th place is the 76ers with a record of 36-20. And lastly for the top 5 teams in the 2019 season is the Celtics with a record of 35-21. In the NFL this month was big because obviously the Super Bowl was in this month. During the Super Bowl it was very intense because the scores were very low and was close for the majority of the game. During this game it was the Patriots v.s. Rams and this was Tom Brady’s last chance to get another ring. If he won the Superbowl he would have his last season as a Superbowl win. Nobody in the game scored till the 3rd quarter. Final score for the game was 13-3 Patriots win. This was Tom Brady’s 6th ring, and got to end his career on a super bowl win. Regarding the NHL this month there has been some trades that have happened recently. On February 11, 2019 Montreal Canadiens acquire forward Nate Thompson and 2019 fifth-round pick from Los Angeles Kings for 2019 fourth-round pick. Thompson was trades to the Canadiens by the Kings. That is what has happened most recently in the NHL so far.
